Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)
What is Gynecomastia?

A Flat, Firm Chest — Permanently.

Gynecomastia is the development of female-pattern breast tissue in men — affecting one or both sides. It is caused by hormonal imbalance, certain medications, body fat distribution or unknown causes, and often persists despite weight loss or exercise.

At BodyCode Aesthetics we treat gynecomastia definitively — combining liposuction (for fatty tissue) with excision (for true glandular tissue) to restore a flat, masculine chest.

  • Permanent removal of glandular and fatty breast tissue
  • Flattens and defines the chest contour
  • Combined technique addresses both fat and gland
  • Discreet incision placement
  • Lasting result — gland does not regrow
  • Major confidence boost

Techniques We Offer

Tailored to your anatomy & goals

Liposuction Only

For predominantly fatty gynecomastia — small ports, no chest scar. Quickest recovery.

Excision (Periareolar)

For glandular tissue — small scar half-way around the areola.

Combined Lipo + Excision

The most common approach — addresses both fatty and glandular components.

Skin Excision (Post-Weight Loss)

Additional skin removal where significant excess skin remains — typically post-weight-loss patients.

Is It Right for You?

Ideal Candidates

Male breast reduction suits men with persistent gynecomastia who have ruled out reversible causes.

Persistent Gynecomastia

You have had visible breast tissue for at least 12–18 months, with no improvement from weight loss or hormone correction.

Stable Weight

You've held a stable weight; further weight loss should ideally happen first.

Reversible Causes Excluded

Medication, anabolic steroids and hormonal causes have been addressed where possible.

Good General Health

You are a non-smoker with no uncontrolled medical conditions.

Realistic Expectations

You understand that small incisions are required and that the goal is masculine contour rather than perfect symmetry.

Not Suitable If…

Surgery is delayed if causes are reversible (medication, weight, recent puberty), if active breast disease is present, or if weight is still actively changing.

Step by Step

The Procedure at BodyCode Aesthetics

Male breast reduction is a precise, mostly day-case procedure with quick return to normal life.

  1. 01

    Consultation & Assessment

Examination to characterise fatty vs glandular tissue. Bloods to rule out endocrine causes if appropriate.

  2. 02

    Pre-Operative Preparation

Blood tests, medical clearance, smoking cessation. Compression vest sourced.

  3. 03

    Anaesthesia

    General anaesthesia with experienced team.

  4. 04

    Liposuction Component

Tumescent solution; gentle liposuction of fatty chest tissue through tiny ports.

  5. 05

    Excision (If Glandular)

Small periareolar incision to directly remove dense glandular breast tissue that liposuction cannot.

  6. 06

    Contour Refinement

Final sculpting checks; smooth transition into the natural chest border.

  7. 07

    Closing & Vest

Small sutures; compression vest fitted before discharge.

  8. 08

    Post-Op Care

Aftercare instructions; follow-up at 1 week, 1 month and 3 months.

Risks & Considerations

Every patient deserves complete honesty. These risks are rare when surgery is performed by BodyCode Aesthetics' expert team.

Asymmetry

Minor side-to-side differences can occur; touch-up procedures are possible.

Contour Irregularity

Mild irregularities are uncommon and improve with massage and time.

Nipple Sensation Changes

Temporary changes are common and usually resolve over weeks to months.

Seroma

Small fluid collections may occur and are easily managed.

Recurrence

Glandular tissue does not regrow, but significant weight gain or new hormonal triggers (anabolic steroids) can recreate the appearance.

Scar Visibility

Periareolar scars are small and well-hidden at the pigment border.

Our Commitment to Safety

All risks discussed openly at consultation. Our combined lipo+excision technique delivers consistently flat, masculine results.

How is gynecomastia different from fatty chest tissue?
Gynecomastia is true glandular breast tissue — firm under the nipple, often slightly tender, present regardless of body fat. Fatty chest tissue is soft and improves with weight loss. Most patients have a combination of both, which is why we typically combine lipo and excision.
Will weight loss fix gynecomastia?
Weight loss helps fatty chest tissue but does not remove true glandular tissue. Many men reach low body fat and find the breast tissue still visible — this requires surgery.
Will it come back?
Excised glandular tissue does not regrow. However, significant weight gain or use of anabolic steroids can re-create chest fat or trigger new gland growth. Avoid anabolic steroids permanently.
How visible are the scars?
For pure liposuction — only tiny port scars. For excision — a small scar half-way around the areola, hidden in the pigment border. Both fade significantly over 6 months.
When can I return to the gym?
Cardio from week 4. Chest workouts from week 6+. Heavy bench press and dumbbell flyes are introduced last.
Is the procedure painful?
Discomfort is mild to moderate for the first few days, comparable to a heavy chest workout. Well-managed with prescribed medication.
Will my nipples be normal afterwards?
Yes — your nipples and areolae remain attached and functional. Some temporary sensation change is normal and usually resolves.
How quickly can I return to work?
Most men with desk jobs return at 1 week. Physical jobs require 3–4 weeks.
Is it covered by insurance?
Coverage is limited in Nigeria. We can provide documentation if your insurer considers gynecomastia surgery.
How do I book a discreet consultation?
Click "Book Consultation" or WhatsApp us. All consultations are completely confidential.
How much does treatment cost?
Cost depends on the procedure, the time required and any combined treatments. Contact us for a personalised quote.
Do you offer financing?
We offer flexible payment options. Contact us for current arrangements.
